We Were Summoned!
What started as a normal day for duat turned into a life-changing event when they received an unexpected phone call. Nine village chiefs wanted to meet with them. Duat felt nervous and puzzled. What could they possibly want from them? They called their coordinator for advice and were told to go ahead and find out.
The duat arrived at the meeting place, a humble masjid made of grass that they had helped build with some new Muslims. The chiefs were already there, waiting for them. They greeted duat warmly and explained their purpose. They had heard about duat’s work in spreading Islam and they were curious to learn more. They had many questions about the religion and wanted to hear it from duat’s own mouth! The duat seized the opportunity to share their faith with the chiefs. They spoke passionately about Islam—the beauty of its teachings, the importance of unity and compassion, and the way to inner peace. The chiefs listened attentively, their interest growing with each word.
Two of the chiefs were so touched by Duat’s words that they felt a strong connection to Islam and decided to embrace it on the spot. They declared their shahada with tears in their eyes. The masjid was filled with a sense of joy and wonder.
The news of the chiefs’ conversion spread like wildfire in the villages, creating a wave of excitement and curiosity. The other chiefs, motivated by their peers’ faith, started attending classes led by Duat and other Muslims. Five more chiefs accepted Islam within days after the meeting. The Duat’s meeting with the village chiefs was not only a turning point for them but also for the communities they serve.
