Lusoroja- A Nomad Who Embraced Islam

Meet Lusoroja, a young man who grew up in the remote northern highlands, where his nomadic tribe worshipped ghosts and roamed the land with their cows. He had seen Muslims in his travels, but no one ever shared the message of Islam with him.

That changed when he settled in Iringa, near our Outreach centre. Our team visited his neighbours and seized the opportunity to talk to him about Islam. He was curious and asked many questions, which we answered patiently and respectfully.

He was also very caring and wanted to know if his mother, who had twins, and his brother, who used herbal medicine, could also become Muslims. We explained to him that having twins was a blessing from God, not a sin, and that herbal medicine was allowed in Islam as long as it was not used for evil purposes or intoxication.

Finally, by the mercy of Allah, both he and his mother embraced Islam and recited the Shahada!

iERA organises New Muslim classes to help reverts learn about the new faith as well as build a support system for them together with the local Muslim community. Please donate at ieraafrica.org/donate to support us facilitate such projects, in Sha Allah.

Lusoroja’s story is an inspiring one. It shows that no matter where you come from or what your background is, you can always find your way to Islam if you are open-minded and willing to learn. It’s never too late to embrace Islam and start living a life of purpose and meaning.

May Allah guide us all on the straight path.
