HIS GRANDDAUGHTER’S DEATH OPENED HIS HEART TO ISLAM.
His Muslim granddaughter had just passed away and her mother insisted that she is buried in the Islamic way even though the rest of the family was not Muslim.
The local Sheikh led the burial rituals and it was the first time the people of the village had witnessed such an event. Interestingly enough, before the rituals started the deceased’s mother reverted to Islam. Together with the women of the village, they prepared her daughter’s body (washing and shrouding).
After the body was ready for burial, the local Sheikh led prayers and asked the public to join the Muslims at the graveyard to witness the Islamic burial. The men went first and were followed by the women. All along there was an old man who watched with amazement and awe at the whole process and felt his heart inclined towards Islam. Even though he did not accept Islam, from that day he began to dress like the local Muslims; a hat and Juba.
After a while, the iERA team came to his village and when they met him, they thought he was a Muslim man given his dress code! Once they learnt that he wasn’t, they called him to Islam and after a short discussion about the Islamic faith, he accepted to become a Muslim!
